Workshop für Demokratie: „A Republic, if we can keep it“

Wie funktioniert Demokratie und warum ist sie so wichtig? Ein spannender zweitägiger Workshop des d.a.i.

Workshop: “A Republic, if we can keep it – democracy on the line”

In light of the recent U.S. election results, the need for us, the younger generation, to stay informed about the election process and its global implications has become increasingly vital.  To address this issue, the d.a.i. organized an exclusive two-day workshop for the 12th grade students that included panel debates, individual research, and expert discussions.

The workshop began with the students staging a mock televised debate between the two presidential candidates, with each of us 40 students assigned a role by Gottfried Haufe, the expert who guided us through these two days. This format ensured that we explored issues from different perspectives, despite the political leanings of the organizers being evident.

The workshop also included a dynamic fishbowl discussion with Dr. Thomas Gijswijt the following day, which was a great way for interested students to actively participate in the discussion and freely share their questions and concerns. Some even stayed long after the program ended with additional questions and topics.

Thanks to the d.a.i., Mr. Haufe and Dr. Gijswijt for a special event outside the regular classroom!
